Virginia Wedding Venue
Jess and her family bought the property in 2017 but didn't have their first wedding until 2020 - clearly an auspicious year to start! They have couples come from Charlottesville, Richmond, Nova, and even out of state!
I had the pleasure of photographing a recent wedding at their venue and was in awe of how gorgeous and unique their property is!
How it began...
Clint and Debbie, our owners, wanted to get out of the suburbs and get back to their roots of owning land in the country. They talked about what could "marry" their skills (pun intended!) and landed on owning a wedding venue. Clint is a man with a plan that can build just about anything and Debbie has vision for the beauty she could create with him. Both coming from customer-service backgrounds, they knew they had what it takes to create these calm, gorgeous moments for each couple!
You get access to our venue all day, starting at 9am and ending at 12. We find our couples love this extra time to set up without feeling stressed about getting everything done. We also include everything you need in terms of tables and chairs as well as a golf cart crew to help drive guests and vendors around our 64 acre property!
We have a 250 year old oak tree that our couples love to get married underneath and they sit on 110 year old church pews. The vintage glass greenhouse is where our receptions take place, right next to our own private 4 acre pond. It is truly a secret garden because you cannot see any of this from the road!
What about business challenges?
Opening during Covid certainly wasn't ideal but we made it work! Luckily it gave us an opportunity to have a soft open. We've been rocking and rolling since!
Getting to be a part of a couple's most special day and get to help facilitate that experience continues to be a joy for all of at Avonlea Farms!
What else would she like us to know?
We would love for more people to come see our venue and fall in love with it like we did! You truly can't capture the vast beauty of it until you see it in person!
